Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read

This list is kinda embarrassing. These are all authors I keep MEANING to read, but haven't quite got around to yet. Terrible, I KNOW.

1. John Green.

2. Sarah Dessen.

3. Jaclyn Moriarty.

4. J.R.R. Tolkien.

5. Rainbow Rowell.

6. Diana Wynne Jones.

7. Patrick Ness.

8. Philip Pullman.

9. Haruki Murakami.

10. Philippa Gregory.

Hopefully I will read at least one book from each of these by the end of the year!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

  1. I love Tolkien but reading his work is not a light endeavor. I'm kind of glad I read The Hobbit and LOTR and the Silmarllion before I really had access to a library that could keep me plenty bust with lots of fun YA books :) Otherwise, I might never had made the time to read his work.

  3. I haven't read Jaclyn Moriarty either. I almost bought one when I was in Australia but since they're published in the US too I figured I'd wait until I got home.

    1. Yes, books are too heavy to lug in luggage if you can access them at home!

  4. Oh my lord. That gif perfectly describes the reaction you SHOULD have at not reading John Green and Sarah Dessen! Those two, for me, define contemporary YA lit. They're the go-to authors I recommend for people new to YA.
I haven't read Tolkien, Rowell, or Pullman either. You're not alone!

  5. I haven't read Sarah Dessen either! I thought I was the only book blogger in the world who hasn't read a book of her's! Nice to know I'm not alone lol

    1. Definitely not the last one - there's at least two of us!

  6. I haven't read Sarah Dessen either. I do feel like putting my arm around you and saying something along the lines of "Bless. Come with me so that you can read Rainbow Rowell at least." I wouldn't be too fussed about Philippa Gregory but I would recommend The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness! I've only read one Jaclyn Moriarty but I wasn't blown away by it.

  7. If you read any of them, I want it to be Jaclyn Moriarty!!!

  8. I LOVE the LOTR movies and The Hobbit but I read The Fellowship of the Rings and I actually wish I hadn't because it changed the movie for me due to how much I hated the book. The pacing was terrible, I ended up skipping large portions of it to get past all the bloody poetry and singing and they all walk around saying "Tally ho! What a jolly good adventure all this hiking business is!"

I wasn't impressed with The Other Boleyn Girl either.

BUT I really liked Rainbow Rowel's Attachments and Eleanor and Park.

  9. I'm going to confess that I've never read of these authors either. I tried to get into the Lord of the Ring series, but I couldn't.

  10. I haven't read a Sarah Dessen or Patrick Ness book either! *phew* I bet you hear this all the time but I do strongly reccommend John Green and Rainbow Rowell. But at least you've read TFIOS. Lovely seeing you yesterday :)
